Information required by § 5 Digitale-Dienste-Gesetz (DDG, the German Digital Services Act) and § 18 (2) Medienstaatsvertrag (MStV, the German Interstate Media Treaty)

This is a translation. The service is operated from Germany and the German version is the authoritative one. Where the two differ, the German text applies. The statutes referred to are German law and apply whichever language you read them in.

On the legal form. If a natural person operates the service (sole trader), a name and an address at which legal documents can be served are enough. A post-office box is not. For a company, the legal form, the authorised representatives, the registering court and the registration number have to be given as well.

Anyone running the service from their own home must state that address — which is the most common reason a business address, or a provider of addresses for service, is arranged before launch. That decision belongs before publication, not after.

Responsible for the content under § 18 (2) MStV

Lutz Maier, Vogelweide 22, 22081 Hamburg

This entry is only required for journalistic or editorial offerings. SafetyImg transmits nothing but content that users create themselves and make available to individual other users on purpose; no editorial shaping takes place. The entry does no harm and is made as a precaution — it may be dropped once a lawyer has looked at it.

Point of contact under the Digital Services Act

Single point of contact for authorities under Article 11 and for users under Article 12 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (Digital Services Act):

Email: dsa@safetyimg.app
Postal address: as above

The point of contact can be reached in German and English. Reports about illegal content are also accepted directly in the app; the procedure is set out in our reporting procedure.

Consumer dispute resolution

We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (§ 36 Verbraucherstreitbeilegungsgesetz, the German Consumer Dispute Resolution Act).

The former duty to link to the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform no longer exists: the platform was shut down on 20 July 2025 and the underlying Regulation (EU) No 524/2013 was repealed. A link to ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr no longer belongs in an imprint; it leads nowhere, which makes it more of a liability than a protection.

Liability for content created by users

SafetyImg is a hosting service within the meaning of Article 6 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065. The content users exchange through the service is end-to-end encrypted; we store nothing but ciphertext and are technically unable to take note of what it contains. As soon as we become aware of illegal content — as a rule through a report from an authorised recipient — we act in accordance with our reporting procedure.
